Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

ROOM 703

In this session, the potential benefits of using subculture genres such as hip-hop, punk, and heavy metal music with art in clinical settings will be described. The presenters will provide an overview of these genres, a justification for their use, and demonstrations of how to implement these styles in clinical work. A report on current literature will be provided. Additionally, the presenters will share their own experiences of how and why using these genres have helped their clients connect to themselves, peers, and the therapists, growing and healing within those relationships. Participants will have the opportunity to hear and see clinical examples and case vignettes, as well as an opportunity for discussion about reservations and practical issues in using these less-traditional music genres clinically.
