While we work in a wide range of settings including hospitals, schools, forensics, communities and private practice, we continue to describe ourselves as belonging to "emerging" fields. In this workshop, we will explore self-perceptions of our own professional identities by examining how we describe our professions, how we respond to questions about our professions and roles in the workplace, and how we can advocate for ourselves and others in the creative arts therapy field. By distinguishing between strong and weak language found in creative art therapy literature as well as amongst ourselves, we will learn to cultivate professional identities worthy of our professions.

Erin Partridge, PhD, ATR-BC, RYT, is an artist and art therapist from the San Francisco Bay Area. Her clinical experience includes work in community, pediatric, forensic, and geriatric settings. Erin received a BFA, studying fine art, psychology and women’s studies in at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
