ROOM 701

At the heart of play therapy is the possibility for children to explore their ideas and feelings about self and others in a safe and creative way. This half-day workshop is an introduction to the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT), developed by Bruce Perry, MD, through play, art, music, and somatosensory activities. By examining modern attachment theory and neuroscience, the presenters will discuss how play therapy can be a valuable tool in cultivating resilience for children and adolescents. NMT allows our clients to explore their inner worlds at their own pace, and with spontaneity and freedom. After an informational overview and presentation of case studies in play, art, somatosensory activities, and sand therapy, participants will be introduced experientially to directive and non-directive forms of play and arts interventions to deepen their understanding how they can be integrated with the NMT approach in the clinical setting.
