Greening the Lifecycle: Ecopsychology and Aging

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

ROOM 803

We embrace youth, physical beauty, and vigor, turning away from the natural signs of human aging, yet we are not put off by images of age in nature. In this three-hour workshop, we will explore our attitudes regarding the experience and meaning of aging through the realms of art and ecopsychology. Participants will experience an examination of ecological principles and issues and their relationship to attitudes and images of aging;  a slide lecture on the role of art, creativity, and images of nature in the experience of aging; and experiential exercises in connecting with the natural world and one’s own life cycle utilizing various expressive modalities including visual art and creative writing. Time for dialogue and discussion will be provided, including how to incorporate this work into clinical practice.
