As practicing psychotherapists, the nature of our work requires us to navigate feelings, pressures and risks that can be both physically and emotionally demanding. Therefore, we have an ethical imperative to take time for self-reflection and self-care. In this evidenced-based (Pennebaker & Chung, 2011) expressive writing workshop, participants will discuss conflicts and deterrents that impact self-care; explore the different professional and personal needs we face as arts therapists; and learn creative, proactive ways to respond to these concerns.
