This daylong Symposium will highlight the use of play therapy and expressive arts therapies in working with children and teens who have histories of trauma.  A brief review of trauma's impact on psychological and physical development will be provided. Speakers will offer theoretical material and case presentations that illustrate how drama, art, play, and sandplay can be used to inform and advance trauma-specific assessment and treatment goals. Approaches that are especially relevant for bridging communication and mobilizing resources for children and their families will be addressed.
