Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

ROOM 714

This presentation provides an overview of the tools, technique, and process of sandplay therapy along with related expressive arts modalities with special emphasis on the therapeutic use of miniatures. Exploring the theme of the miniature in myth and fairytale and elucidating the archetype of the tiny hero, participants will deepen their understanding of what accounts for the therapeutic potency of the small, diminutive figures and symbols used in sandplay therapy, floor games, and related sandtray therapies. The art of creating a miniature collection for use in clinical practice will be discussed, from the practicalities of what figures to include and where to find them, to maintaining and tending a collection, to understanding how the collection mirrors the personality of the therapist and enhances the therapeutic transference. This workshop will incorporate hands-on experiential activities including miniature and sandtray making, individual expression with miniatures, and collaborative sandtray exercises. Participants will be able to take home their creations to use in their own therapeutic practices.

This Master Class is part of the multiple-session, 4-day Immersive Training: Archetypal Approaches in the Expressive Arts TherapiesRegistration is available separately for each day
