Write for Your Life: Creating a Roadmap for Recovery

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

ROOM 705

In this experiential workshop, three self-described "Poets of Well-Being" will demonstrate how writing empowers recovery from addiction, mental illness, sexual abuse, and trauma. Each speaker will share the essence of her own journey through original stories and poems. The teaching team will then present their method for working with specific populations, introducing an interactive writing exercise designed to help people with trauma and mental health issues gain insight, strengthen resiliency, and develop empathy. As participants engage in this exercise, their insights into the needs of specific populations will springboard a discussion of the application of this method. Participants will then be invited to create a template for the population they serve.
